Lonavala

Lonavala is a picturesque hill station nestled in the Sahayadri ranges of Maharashtra. Popular as the health resort, Lonawala is situated at the height of 625 mts, about 96 kms from Mumbai and 62kms from Pune.

The name Lonavala is said be derived from Sanskrit word Lonavali, which refers to the many caves like Karla, Bhaja and Bedsa that are close to Lonavla. Rajmachi Point
About 6.5 kms from Lonavla, Rajmachi Point has a magnificent view of Shivaji's famous fort, Rajmachi (Royal terrace) and the surrounding valley. The famous Vaghjai Dari is also located here.

Ryewood Park & Shivaji Udyan
Situated in Lonavala, these gardens have a full sweep of majestic tall trees with plenty of space for children to play. There is an old Shiva temple in this park.

Tungarli Lake
Supplier of water to Lonavala town, Tungarli Lake has a beautiful locale, an ideal spot for picnic.

Valvan Dam
A popular evening spot about 2kms from Lonavala town, Valvan Dam has a beautiful garden at its foot. The dam supplies water to the Khopoli power station at the foothills of the Sahyadris for generating electricity.

Lonavla Lake
About 1.6 kms from the town, Lonavla Lake is a picturesque spot surrounded by natural scenery.

How to Reach Lonavala

By Air
The nearest airport from Lonalvala is Pune, which is 62 km from Lonavala. Aiirports of Mumbai is about 96kms away.

By Train
Lonavala falls on the main railway line between Mumbai and Pune, all express trains plying between the two cities stop here.

By Road
It takes 2hrs bus journey from Pune and roughly 4 hrs from Mumbai. There are also buses plying between Lonavala and Khandala, about 15 minutes ride between the points.
